The update…

Category: My Thoughts

I have to learn to make a schedule for when i update on the site.

Just the usual stuff to report, i tested a few new demos and i finally got into the bf2142 beta.

All i can say about the beta that it has potential.

I tested out the demo for El Matador. Looks very nice graphically and seems to be a solid game but i gotta say it wasn’t all that great. The game is a 3rd person shooter so aiming in it isn’t the best. Overall i suppose many would enjoy it but it didn’t get me impress me much.

I am currently playing the new Broken Sword demo. It seems like it might turn out to be yet another quality game from the series. They have implanted the old point and click style of gaming using an 3d engine. It is a bit annoying in some situation but you can also like in broken sword 3 control George with the keyboard.

I have mostly been spending my time up late catching up on older games, still wrestling with Ninja Gaiden(hard game..). I also got a trial account for World of warcraft after nearly 6 months without playing it. I think I’m gonna spend some time with it, been craving for some up late. Resident evil 4 is on the shelf and waiting to be picked up and finished. Haven’t had much time for it, although it seems like a lot of fun. Mainly I’ve been playing Half life 2:Episode 1 which is a lot of fun which was to be expected, i am very excited for episode 2 and portal.
ooh and i defiantly need to go play my old playstation games now that i have a ps2, there are a few games i just need to finish again, it’s hard to have so many games you want to finish yet you want to finish them all at the same time, makes it hard.

It’s about time!

Category: My Thoughts

I haven’t updated in here for awhile.

It has mostly been because of work, only two more days to go before a break, which i am looking forward too.

I am currently waiting on getting a beta key for the new Battlefield 2142 beta and i have been absolutely anxious to get my chance to play it. I got the email 6 days ago that my registration had been accepted, yet still no beta key..why does god hate me.
The beta has a Non disclosure agreement, meaning i can’t write or talk about it in any detail what the beta has to offer. If i want to make a full review of the beta i am gonna have to wait until they lift the NDA.

Been trying out some of the more recent demo’s that have been coming out. Tried out Sudden Strike 3 which i wasn’t at all impressed with. Seemed to be slow and unresponsive, which isn’t good for a RTS game. My interest was peaked however with Joint Task Force and Paraworld which turned out a lot of fun.

JTF is a modern war RTS game. What sets it apart from many other is that you don’t start off with building a base, you start with your own squad of trained marines commanded Major O’connel and all start with different abilities depending on what they specialize, as you progress through the game you can promote members in your squad so they will get more efficient. It has also something i don’t remember ever seeing in other RTS games, the squad members can take control of virtually any vehicle you come across, so you can drive around killing people with a forklift if that is what you want to do. So far i have only tried the first mission, but i plan to finish the demo and i might end up buying this game.

ParaWorld is pretty fun although different from JTF. It is set in fantasy based RTS with swords etc. Pretty standard RTS most of the time but i had fun with it, i would recommend you check it out.

Lately i have been spending my time finishing Half life 2 and i finally did, three days ago, the ending was so sudden and i was still hungry for more so i went ahead and bought episode 1 the day after. I have never played a better singleplayer FPS game and i don’t know if i ever will.

A new trailer has been released for Unreal Tournament 2007, i got the HD version which by the way is SO worth it. It looked very nice, i am however trying to keep my hopes down because i got so terribly disappointed when UT2003 was released, being a UT99 player for years now i am hoping UT2007 will be good because i want another excellent game made from the series, UT2004 is fine but i will never love it as much as i love the original.

FEAR Combat amongst other things.

Category: Gaming News

Fear Combat is going live in less then 24 hours.
I have never played F.E.A.R but getting a free multiplayer based on it, well that is just so very very neat.

I tested the demo for Maelstorm yesterday and i didn’t like it very much. Was very bugged and didn’t look all that good, i have been hoping for another good RTS i could get my hands on before Supreme Commander hits the shelf but not seen any worthy of mentioning.

Just saw a pretty interesting article about the possible release time of the Wii. Apparently according to leaked info that Nintendo is putting up “countdown to launch” clocks in several stores. Of course this could also just be Nintendo playing with the gaming community to get more publicity. Even though the clocks are up doesn’t mean that it will launch yet, although i certainly hope it is. :)

Hack ‘n slash.

I tried out the demo for Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. If you liked games like Oblivion you shouldn’t let this one get passed you. It has nice graphics and since it uses the source engine the psychics are very good. While it isn’t a match for Oblivion in this genre it pulls of the formula pretty well. Especially when it comes to fights.

You are allowed to dual wield weapons such as daggers which so you can fight with great speed and versatility. In this game it also isn’t enough to just hack at your opponent, sometimes if the one you are fighting is wearing armor you need to hold down the attack button to make a more powerful strike at him, if you get lucky you can decapitate him with a shift blow to the head. They also introduce a adrenaline bar which fills up as you fight and once it’s full it will allow you to perform more powerful and faster moves and some special onces like magics spells and some deadly attack with a weapon.

Unlike most First person games you see the body of yourself in the game when you look down or are picked up my orcs and thrown away when you fall on the ground, makes it a lot more immersive then most other games.

My only real problem with the demo was how short it was. Compared with it being a 1.4gb download it didn’t even reach an hour of gameplay, but it is still a nice preview of how the game will be like when it gets shipped.

Neil Who?

Category: Gaming News

I just saw a news post on Gamespot about who is directing the Halo movie which is rumored to come out in 2008
The director Neill Blomkamp is best known for his works on several sci-fi series such as Smallville,Stargate SG-1 and Dark angel.
Even though this is not a famous director, I am glad that it is not someone like Uwe Boll who is only known for his desecration of video game movies.
