Nintendo taking a different approach to game difficultyCategory: Gaming News, My Thoughts

So…apparently Nintendo are patenting something that will allow gamers to turn on and off a tutorial mode which will last throughout the game.
Now I can see where they are going with this. There are parts of games that can get frustrating but isn’t this taking things a little far?
I mean, nowadays there is hardly a game that doesn’t autosave after every single step you take to advance through the game but with this you will have a built in tutorial for the entire game so doesn’t that kind of makes the game less interesting? I mean, what’s the point of playing a game if there is no challenge in figuring things out for yourself?
Now I know sometimes players get stuck in games..It happens and it can be frustrating but most will at least attempt to figure it out for themselves before resorting to a walkthrough. With a tutorial like this installed, you will be much more tempted to just check the tutorial just to advanced through the game.
I also don’t get the point of being able to skip ahead to any part of the game without having actually finished the part in question.
I’m sure many will be happy with this change, but I for one don’t like the direction it would be taking. It just defeats the point of playing the game at all to me.
This is what I think, I’d like to hear what are your opinions?
