So here we go again….

#10 Final Fantasy Mystiq Quest - Battle theme

Most would consider this game substandard and merely meant to be a good place to start for players that haven’t played RPG games before since it’s way easy with a very simple battle system and story. However despite all it’s flaws, the music in this game is simply awesome. I used to listen to this all the time, it has such arrange of catchy themes and this is but one of them.

#9 Street Fighter II - Ken Stage

The game that started it all. If it wasn’t for Street Fighter II it’s possible Fighting games wouldn’t be nearly as popular as they are today nor as good. While frustratingly hard, I loved this game back in the day and I also loved the soundtrack.

#8 Megaman X - Boomer Kuwanger Stage

When Megaman made the jump to SNES a whole new series was made they called Megman X. It improved on everything the NES versions had to offer and also boasted some kickass music such as this.

#7 Killer Instinct - Title

The game that invented “Hypeeeeeeeerrrr Coooooooommmmmboooo” Before this game came, games were limited to only about 2-3 hit combo but in this game you can easily hit 10 or more hits which was a huge thing. Aside from that the game also boasted a great music score as evident by this one.

#6 Actraiser - Forest

Actraiser is in a league of it’s own. It successfully managed to blend together action platformer and RPG…Oh did I mention you are God in the game? Pretty sure I haven’t.

#5 Donkey Kong Country - Oil Drum Alley

DKC may sound like a weird concept for a platformer game but it ended up being brilliant. DKC and DKC2 are some of the best platformer game ever made rivaling even the greatest of Mario games thanks to it’s clever map design, incredible graphics that pushed the SNES to it’s limits and incredible soundtrack.

#4 Earthworm Jim - New Junk City

So speaking of good platformer games. One of the most hilarious and wacky one you can find. In what other game could flush yourself down a toilet and use your face to whack crows? None!

#3 Legend of Zelda: A link to the Past - Castle

I could very well have put the overworld theme there but since I put it on my top NES theme list I think it’s better to go with this one instead. In my opinion this is the best Zelda game ever made.

#2 Star Fox - Corneria

Ah yes, the “OMG THE GRAPHICS DROOOOOOOOL” circa 1993..Of course today we see it for the polygon mess it is. The gameplay is solid though….I hate slippy though, that damn frog just can’t keep himself out of trouble.

#1 Secret of Mana - Title

Oh man, this theme always sends chill down my spine..It’s has such a pretty melody…*sniffle*

That’s it, Next up Top ten Favorite PS1 themes.

Top Ten Best NES themes.

top-ten-best-nes-themes

About time I did another one of these.

This is definatly not a easy pick, there are so many great themes on the NES, I can’t even count them, I mean I could probably fill up two of these top ten lists with Megaman themes alone.

So I must limit it to one per franchise.

#10

Gremlins 2 - Stage 1

I love this little jingle. I remember I actually used to play the game just to hear this theme. This game is pretty good as well, it’s hard as hell though.

#9

Blaster Master - Stage 1

This one is pure classic. Not only is it a great theme but the game is freaking awesome. But holy god is it hard, but I guess that was a running theme with games back then.

#8

Castlevania 3 - Beginning

Many great themes to be found in the Castlevania series and I consider this one being the best(on the NES that is)

#7

Jurrassic Park - Stage 1

The game is alright at best, but this song is great.

#6

Contra(Probotector)  - Stage 1

The first videogame my parents gave to me(apart from Mario/Duckhunt that came with the system), Probotector is one of the best and memorable game I’ve ever played. It’s still addictive as hell. I do have to admit that I did use the konami code last time I went through it, the game is near impossible without it.

#5

Faxandu - Theme

One of the first RPG games I played back in the day. Apart from this song, all I can remember about the game in any detail is the horribly long password you had to enter to continue.

# 4

Batman - Stage 1

Batman on the NES is one of the few Batman games I’ve played that have given the Dark Knight justice. The soundtrack is overall great but this one stands out to me.

# 3

Super Mario Bros Stage 1

The toughest decision out of all of them since there are so many great songs from Super Mario Bros 1-3. But this one takes the gold mainly for being probably the most recognisable Videogame Theme song of all time.

# 2

Megaman 2 - Quickman Stage

The Megaman series is filled with memorable and awesome music but for me, this one stands out among them, even though it’s a really close contest.

# 1

Legend of Zelda - Outworld

They just don’t get any more classic then this one, it is easily my favorite on any console.

This concludes my top ten favorite NES themes.

Stay tuned for the top ten SNES themes.
